Adoption UK in Scotland operates from our office base in Edinburgh, providing information, support and advice to those parenting children who are no longer able to live with their birth families, across Scotland. Our services are provided through our helpline, online support systems, training workshops and support groups.

Alateen

Alateen is for teenage relatives and friends of alcoholics. Alateen is part of Al-Anon. We believe alcoholism is a family disease that affects everyone in the family. Alateen meetings are for 12-17 year olds. They meet to share their experiences of having, or having had, a problem drinker in their lives. They help and support each other.

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s national dementia charity. Our aim is to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families, we campaign for the rights of people with dementia and fund vital dementia research.

Blue Badges

The Blue Badge scheme operates throughout the UK and is administered by local authorities who process applications and issue badges. 

The scheme is designed to enable people with severe mobility issues or who pose a risk to themselves or others in traffic to travel independently – as either a passenger or driver - by allowing them to park close to their destination. 

The scheme gives concessions to badge holders when they park on-street. Badge holders may benefit from designated parking bays and other concessions when they park in off-street parking areas but this is not subject to the conditions of the scheme.

Brook operates a number of sexual health and wellbeing services across the UK. 

Brook is committed to supporting young people and the majority of services are for people under 25. However, in December 2019 we began running all-age sexual health services in parts of the country. We also provide outreach and education services for young people and training for professionals across the UK.
