Penumbra, the mental health charity, has opened a new support service in the Highlands and Islands for people aged 16 and over who are experiencing self-harm.

Self-harm is a complex way of coping with difficult emotions. If this is something you’re experiencing in your life, this new support service can offer you a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore how you’re feeling.

The focus will not be on the self-harm. The team will work with you to find out what matters to you in your life and they will support you to find coping strategies that work for you.  Many of Penumbra's team members have lived experience of self-harm or managing mental ill health, so they bring an understanding of what you might be experiencing.

The Self-Harm Network Service is now open for self-referral, which means you can contact Penumbra directly to get support. Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Penumbra also have online self-help resources available here: Self Harm Network Scotland - I Need Support

If you’re a professional working with someone who may be experiencing self-harm, you can refer them for support. Please email the team to find out more.
