Access to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s IT system, including its website, was badly affected by a Criminal Cyber Incident on the 7th November, causing significant disruption.   

The council's original website was brought down in the attack, however, their IT team is developing an interim site - www.cne-siar.gov.uk - to allow direct enquiries to the most appropriate service area and allow the public to access important information such as bus timetables, bin collections and school term dates. The new site also features a payments page, allowing people to make secure payments online. 

The council has stated that their current priority is to restore and secure data and ensure the continued delivery of services to those in our communities who need them most.
