The Western Isles Violence Against Women Partnership (WIVAWP) stands in solidarity with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign.

WIVAWP joins a global movement to raise awareness and take action during the 16 Days of Activism, which runs from November 25 to December 10 2023.

Gender-based violence is a global pandemic that affects one in three women worldwide. It is a violation of human rights and a barrier to equality, development, and peace. Intimate partner violence alone accounts for 27% of all homicides of women and girls.

We believe that everyone has the right to live free from violence, regardless of their gender. We call on individuals, governments, and organisations to join us in making a stand against GBV.

During the 16 Days of Activism, we encourage everyone to:

  • Learn more about GBV and its impact on individuals and communities.
  • Speak out against GBV and challenge harmful gender norms.
  • Support survivors of GBV and organisations working to end violence against women.

Together, we can imagine a world where all women and girls are safe and respected.

WIVAWP is a partnership dedicated to ending gender-based violence in the Western Isles. Our members provide support to survivors, advocate for policy change, and educate the public about GBV.
